Description
Slotting Machines Safety Guard Description
The MST-ST01 slotting machine safety guard is designed to secure the work zone around the vertical slide and protect the operator from the projection of shavings while maintaining a clear view of the machining operation. Its thick monolithic transparent shield effectively blocks chips, debris and coolant while providing a wide, unobstructed field of view.
The vertical reversibility of the support system allows an easy installation on either the right side (/DX) or the left side (/SX) of various machines' base. The support assembly can also be mounted in an upper or lower position depending on the machine’s layout. This makes the MST-ST01 compatible with a wide range of industrial slotting machines, without requiring machine modifications.
Its tubular steel structure ensures excellent rigidity and stability. The depth-adjustable arm enables precise positioning of the shield to meet the operator’s protection needs. The guard is also equipped with a dual micro-switch interlock system that prevents the machine from starting when the guard is open or misaligned, ensuring compliance with major international safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, ISO-EN and CE).
Specify the mounting side by adding the suffix :
- /DX = Right
- /SX = Left
Advantages of the MST-ST01

- Vertical shield support arm – stainless tubular steel
- Semi-hexagonal monolithic shield – thick, shockproof, oil-resistant plastic
Main Components (refer to numbered diagram)
- Levelling anchorage stirrup – in tubular steel
- Depth-adjustable safety guard support
- Safety microswitch main box - 180° rotation – n. 2 NC contacts - Interlock
- Adjustable shield-arm fixing clamps – in pressed steel
- Vertical shield support arm – in tubular stainless steel
- Semi-hexagonal monolithic shield – in thick plastic shockproof and oil-resistant material
About the Interlock
The MST-ST01 safety guard features a dual interlock system that prevents the machine from starting when the guard is open or incorrectly positioned. The slotting machine can only operate when the guard is fully closed, significantly reducing risks associated with vertical slide movement and ensuring compliance with OSHA, ANSI, ISO-EN and CE safety requirements.

Maintenance
Before each use, inspect the shield for cracks or deformation and verify that the safety interlock properly cuts power when the guard is opened. Cleaning must be performed with the machine turned off by trained personnel. Keeping the shield clean ensures better visibility and maintains smooth operation of all moving parts.
FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions
Is this guard compatible with my slotting machine?
Yes. Thanks to its reversible support and high/low mounting options, the MST-ST01 fits most industrial slotting machines.
What is the difference between the /DX and /SX suffixes in the product code?
/DX indicates a right-side installation, and /SX indicates a left-side installation.
Does the guard reduce visibility?
No. The transparent monolithic shield provides a wide, unobstructed view while blocking chips and projections.
Can I install the guard myself?
Installation can be performed by a machinist or maintenance technician. No major modifications are required.
Is an interlock system mandatory?
In most industrial environments, an interlock system is strongly recommended — and often required — to comply with OSHA, ANSI, ISO-EN and CE safety standards.
What should I do if the shield becomes damaged?
It must be replaced immediately. The compatible replacement part is MST-ST01/SS.
