Description
The MST-IPA Inside Polishing Tool for Lathes
The MST-IPA from Prismont is engineered to meet the demands of industrial workshops where safety, performance, and productivity are critical. Unlike manual methods such as sanding or polishing by hand on a rotating part, the MST-IPA performs consistent, precise, and safe finishing operations directly inside the internal bore of machined workpieces.
Installation is quick and simple on the existing toolpost of both conventional and CNC lathes. Once mounted, the device securely holds the pneumatic motor and flap wheel, enabling internal sanding, polishing, deburring, and rectification with exceptional stability and surface quality. Its versatile design adapts to different internal diameters and allows for rapid abrasive wheel changes, minimizing downtime. Each unit is supplied with three flap wheels to get started immediately. It allows dor a quick change of flap wheels
The MST-IPA is available in three models to match different production needs:
- MST-IPA Lite (0.4 HP – depth 11″, capacity Ø 1″–1.5″): ideal for lighter applications and small internal diameters.
- MST-IPA Strong-11 (1.0 HP – depth 11″, capacity Ø 1.5″–3″): designed for larger diameters with greater power.
- MST-IPA Strong-21 (1.0 HP – depth 21″, capacity Ø 1.5″–3″): built for high-volume production environments and deeper bores.
Every model is manufactured in compliance with the EN 12840:2001 and ISO 23125:2010 international safety standards, which govern the safe operation of machine tools, ensuring conformity with the highest industrial requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions about the MST-IPA Inside Polishing Tool for Lathes
What is the difference between Lite and Strong?
The Lite model runs with a 0.4 HP pneumatic motor and is suitable for lighter applications, covering internal diameters of 1″ to 1.5″ (25.4 – 38.1 mm). The Strong models require 1.0 HP and are designed for larger diameters, from 1.5″ to 3″ (38.1 – 76.2 mm), providing greater robustness and stability.
What is the difference between the Strong-11 and Strong-21 models?
Both versions offer the same power (1.0 HP) and the same diameter range (1.5″ to 3″), but differ in depth capacity:
- MST-IPA (Strong-11): maximum depth 11″ (279 mm).
- MST-IPA (Strong-21): maximum depth 21″ (533 mm).
Can I use the MST-IPA on a CNC lathe?
Yes. The tool is compatible with both conventional and CNC lathes thanks to its direct mounting on the toolpost.
Can I use the tool manually?
No. For safety reasons, no manual sanding, polishing, or finishing should ever be performed on a rotating workpiece.
What materials can I work with the MST-IPA?
The tool is designed for sanding, polishing, deburring, and finishing parts made of metal, alloys, and other materials compatible with the abrasives used.
