Description
Description of the Lathe Retractable Cross Slide Carriage Safety Guard MST-T012
The MST-T012 combines safety, durability and ease of use. Its retractable design allows quick access for part setup, measurement and inspection, while its shock-proof, oil-resistant transparent shields maintain constant visibility of the machining area.
Thanks to the adjustable anchoring base along the shield support axis, the guard can be installed either at the rear of the longitudinal carriage (cross slide) or directly on it.
It also includes a chip-deflecting screen, providing additional protection against flying debris and fluids during turning operations. The shield has two articulated parts which open vertically, keeping completely clear the access to the tool.
Main Components (corresponding to numbered diagram)
- Front shield in shockproof and oil resistant plastic material
- Upper shield in shockproof and oil resistant plastic material
- Shield supporting arm
- Stirrup for front shield rotation
- Gas spring assembly
- Safety microswitch main box - 90° rotation - n. 2 NC contacts - electrically interlocked
- Supporting profile, complete with stirrups
- Clamps for shield and microswitch group connection
- Adjustable anchorage base
About the Safety Interlock System
The interlock system prevents the lathe from starting when the guard is open or incorrectly positioned.
This safety mechanism significantly reduces the risk of accidents and ensures the guard’s compliance with international safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, ISO-EN, CE).
Advantages of the MST-T012 Guard
- Compact retractable design allowing full clearance of the working area
- Robust articulated arms supporting the shield
- Integrated safety interlock compliant with international standards
- Excellent visibility through oil-resistant transparent screens
- Simple adaptation to the lathe’s longitudinal carriage (cross slide)
Maintenance and Cleaning
Periodic inspection is recommended to maintain optimal safety and visibility. Check the cleanliness of the shields, the mobility of the articulated arms, and the proper operation of the interlock microswitch. Trained personnel must perform cleaning operations when the machine is powered off. Clean the guard whenever clear visibility of the machining area is required.
