Description
Description of the Drill Press Telescopic Safety Guard
The MST-TR05 protects the operator from direct contact with rotating components of the spindle, of the tool and from chips, shavings and coolant projections on drilling machines and drill presses. Its main feature is the telescopic shield, vertically adjustable (see dimensions B and C) and positioned along the support arm (3) for precise, stable alignment. The guard uses two transparent plastic shields, providing excellent visibility of the work area while maintaining an effective safety barrier around the tool.
The assembly mounts on a hexagonal steel support arm for rigidity and durability, even in heavy industrial use. The shield opens laterally via a 180° rotary movement, allowing fast and safe access for tool changes or maintenance. The anchorage stirrup ensures solid attachment to the drill structure, keeping the guard stable during operation.
Each unit includes a pre-wired, electrically interlocked microswitch compliant with OSHA, ANSI, ISO-EN, and CE standards. The device keeps the machine disabled until the guard is fully closed.
Advantages of the MST-TR05
- Dual transparent shield for maximum visibility of the work area
- Telescopic vertical adjustment for precise positioning
- 180° rotary opening for quick access during tool changes
- Robust construction with pressed-steel anchorage stirrup and hexagonal steel arm
- Integrated interlock system compliant with OSHA / ANSI / ISO-EN / CE
- Flexible installation to fit drill presses and industrial drilling machines
Main Components (Numbered on the Diagram)
- Anchorage stirrup - in pressed steel
- Self-bearing main box with integrated microswitch - 180° rotation n. 2 NC contacts - electrically interlocked
- Shield support vertical arm - in steel hexagon
- Adjustment knob for arm-shield assembly with respect to the microswitch main box
- Adjustment shield knob with respect to the support arm
- Semi-octagonal polycarbonate front shield
- «C» shaped rear shield
About the Interlock
The interlock prevents the machine from starting when the guard is open or incorrectly positioned. When the guard is fully closed, the machine can start normally. This feature significantly reduces the risk of accidents and ensures compliance with international safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, ISO-EN, CE).
Maintenance & Cleaning
Before each use, inspect the guard for cracks or visible damage and check the interlock operation. Cleaning must be performed by trained personnel only when the machine is completely stopped. Clean the guard whenever visibility decreases to ensure maximum safety and durability.
